Ralph Nelson passed away on December 8, 2025 at Legend Senior Living in Colorado Springs, Colorado at age 89. He was born in Barada, NE to Milford and Grace (Miller) Nelson.
Ralph married Charlene (Elder) on August 21, 1955 in Wamego , Kansas. They shared 67 years together until her passing December 26, 2022. Ralph was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ron and sister Jennie.
He is survived by his brother Ron’s wife, Beverly (Berner) Nelson of Lenexa, Kansas.
Ralph and Charlene had three children. Teresa was born in Wamego, Kansas and now lives with her husband Lorne Dillon in Arlington, Tennessee. Kevin who was also born in Wamego and now lives with his wife, Ruby (Romero) in Aurora, Colorado. Lori was born in Topeka, Kansas and resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado with her husband Randy Gerster. Ralph leaves behind seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren who will miss him very much.
Ralph and Charlene had a love for Colorado which led them to move to Loveland, Colorado and then Colorado Springs, Colorado for the later years of their lives.
Ralph made the most of the beautiful Colorado summers running and playing golf. He even participated in the Pikes Peak Marathon. He made the made the most of Colorado ski slopes in the winter. He was a member of the Pike’s Peak Sertoma Club and was a tenor in the Colorado Springs chapter of SPBSQSA.
Remaining family and friends will celebrate the lives of Ralph and Charlene in the spring of 2026 on a date yet to be determined in Wamego, Kansas. After that celebration they will be laid to rest together in the Wamego cemetery.
