A Falls City woman died Wednesday afternoon in a two vehicle crash south of Auburn according to a release from the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they received a 911 call at 3:57 p.m. December 3 regarding a collision near the intersection of Highway 75 and 726 Road, just south of Auburn in rural Nemaha County.
According to the sheriff’s office a northbound Lincoln MKC driven by Shawna Harkendorff 41 of Falls City crossed into the southbound lane of Highway 75 and collided with a southbound Freightliner semi truck driven by Andrey Shagaliyev of Winkler Manitoba. Harkendorff was pronounced dead at the scene. Shagaliyev was taken to Nemaha County Hospital for treatment of possible injuries. Deputies said seatbelts were in use by both drivers.
Auburn Fire and Rescue the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office Nebraska Game and Parks the Nebraska Department of Transportation and the Nebraska State Patrol responded. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office with assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol.
