Vernal Gilbert Faller of Omaha, NE passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025. He was 89 years old. Vern was born on June 24, 1935, in Falls City, NE. He was one of six children to Gilbert and Alma Faller. Vern attended Falls City High School. He met the love of his life at a volleyball game where Kathern was playing for Verdon High School. They were married in 1957 and had 67 years together until Kathy’s passing in November 2024.
Vern worked for 35 years at Western Electric where he made many lifetime friends. In retirement, Vern enjoyed tinkering in his garage. He repaired lawn mowers, chain saws, basically anything with an engine. He had a natural curiosity for building and fixing things. Vern completed a full addition to their home on Pauline St. He completely refurbished a burned-out camper and rebuilt a motorcycle from a frame and three boxes of parts. He could build anything from a picture. If he wasn’t in the garage, Vern could be found hunting, fishing, watching Nebraska sports or searching the kitchen counter for one of Kathy’s homemade treats.
Vern and Kathy were privileged to spend their last years with Vern’s brothers Cecil and Jerry who were always a source of entertainment, reminiscing about treasured family memories on the farm.
Vern is survived by his son Kevin (Deb) Faller of St. Simons Island, Georgia, daughter Karen (Doug) Tesarek of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, grandchildren Emily (Neiko) Jennings, Josh Faller, Andrea (Frank) Manning, Hunter Tesarek as well as his brothers Cecil Faller and Jerry Faller and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Vern will be held on June 20, 2025, at Heafey, Hoffman, Dworak & Cutler, 7805 W Center Rd. Omaha, N at 10:00 AM with fellowship following.
