It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher (“Chris”) Michael Adams, who passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 56. Chris passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in Omaha surrounded by his family.
Chris was born on May 31, 1968 in Falls City, NE. He was a graduate of Dawson-Verdon High School, Class of 1986. Upon graduation, Chris briefly attended Peru State College and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1987. Chris served aboard the USS Enterprise on sea duty. He was honorably discharged. Chris’ talents and interests were many. He was a writer, musician, artist, a lover of literature and art. He loved the “great books.” Chris taught himself to play guitar and keyboard, taught himself to speak and read French, and taught himself Calculus. Chris struggled with substance abuse and addiction for much of his adult life but managed to achieve 13 years of sobriety while living in New Orleans in the last years of his life.
Chris was a member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska and a member of the First Christian Church in Falls City.
Chris is survived by his son, Jacob Adams of Omaha, his brother, Jim Adams (wife Mary) of Omaha, his brother, John Adams (wife Katie) of Omaha, his mother, Katy Cossairt (husband Darrell) of Kansas City, his sisters, Elise Cossairt and Michelle Cossairt of Kansas City, his Aunt Vickie Adams (husband Randy) of Falls City, his cousin Carissa Helton (husband Eric) and many other family and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandmother, Laura Adams (“Gram”), his grandfather, John L. Adams (“Pa”), his father, John L. Adams, Jr. (“Dad”) and his brother, Daniel Adams (“Boon”).
Chris passed away after a seven month long battle with cancer. Chris’ family would like to express great thanks and gratitude for the wonderful care given by the doctors and nurses and care providers at the VA Hospital in Omaha and New Orleans, St. Croix Hospice in Omaha, and the Millard Good Samaritan Home in Omaha.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Chris’ honor on Saturday, June 14th, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. Noon until 4:00 p.m. at the Elks Club, 1417 Stone Street, Falls City, NE. Food will be served.
