Richardson County Emergency Management has issued a NEW EVENT FOR RICHARDSON COUNTY.
RED FLAG WARNING FROM 3/17/2025 10:00 AM TO 7:00 PM. and WINTER STORM WATCH 3 AM – 7 PM WEDNESDAY 3/19/2025
MONDAY 3/16/2025: The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 7 pm this evening.
Areas affected are Saline, Jefferson, Gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson Counties.
Winds southwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Relative humidity as low as 11 percent. Minimum humidity 10 to 18 percent with high temperatures 75-83 degrees. Southwest wind gusts 25-35 mph coinciding with the very dry air will lead to several hours of extreme fire danger, especially from 12pm-6pm.
Fires could start and spread very quickly. OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
WEDNESDAY 3/19/2025: Blizzard conditions are expected with northerly wind gusts of 50-65 mph.
Heavy, wet snow consistency. Several inches of snow are possible with a sharp cutoff to the south.
Rain mixes with and then changes to snow Tuesday night in northeast Nebraska. A rain-snow mix, or all snow develops across the remainder of the area Wednesday. Snow ends Wednesday evening. Highest precipitation rates are Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.
The Wednesday morning and evening commutes will be affected. Plan now for whiteout conditions if traveling.
