Diana Lee (Minden) Simon, 78 of Falls City, Nebraska passed away on February 17, 2025 in Falls City, Nebraska. She was born on September 26, 1946 in Paola, Kansas. Diana was the first of four children born to Melvin and Bessie (Vanatta) Minden. She grew up in Osawatomie, Kansas and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1964. Diana married David Armstrong on May 13, 1967 at the First Lutheran Church in Paola, Kansas. Together, they had two children – Regina Kaye and David Matthew. They moved to Bonner Springs, Kansas in the 1970’s where they raised their family. Diana worked as a teller at Commercial State Bank in downtown Bonner Springs. She also worked at Winning Ways where she printed t-shirts overnight when the Kansas Jayhawks won the 1988 National Championship basketball game. Diana was a fan of Elvis Presley and visited his Graceland estate among other travels.
Later in life, Diana married Alvin Simon. They married on December 28, 1992 and lived on a farm in Reserve, Kansas and later in Falls City, Nebraska. Alvin and Diana owned and managed a rental company, owning rental homes throughout Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri. Diana was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Diana didn’t let distance prevent her from seeing her family and would often meet her daughter and grandsons for shopping and lunch or would drive to Paola to visit her parents. Diana and her family attended multiple family reunions and spent every birthday, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas together. Throughout the end of her life, Diana battled Parkinson’s disease. She fought a tough battle but still continued to enjoy life as much as she could.
Diana was preceded in death by her son Matthew Armstrong in 2007; her parents Bessie (Vanatta) Minden in 2013 and Melvin Minden in 2014; and one brother James Minden in 2017. She is survived by her husband Alvin Simon of Falls City, NE; one daughter Gina McMahan, and husband Mark of Bonner Springs, KS; two grandsons Tyler McMahan of Kansas City, KS; Blake McMahan, and wife Lee of Edwardsville, KS; one great grandson Bentley McMahan; two brothers Dennis Minden, and wife Brenda of Osawatomie, KS and Randy Minden of Paola, KS. Through her marriage to Alvin, she has two stepdaughters, Cindy and Debbie, and one stepson David Simon.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Tracy Brooks officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
