At 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, during blizzard/whiteout conditions it was difficult to see to get around Falls City. The storm really ramped up around 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Some residents reported measurements from 11” all the way up to 16 inches. Though it was hard to get an accurate measurement due to drifting. According to Metrologist Joseph Meyer of KMTV News in Omaha, the top five highest snows in Falls City that were measured at Brenner Field up until 2003: were 17” on March 4-5, 1915; 15” – Dec. 23-24, 1935; 14.5” – March 5-6, 1948; 13” – Dec. 24-25, 1948; and 12.5” – February 13, 1978.
