John Charles Marx, of Seal Beach, California, passed away on October 7, 2024, at the age of 80, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on October 27, 1942, in Falls City, Nebraska, to Barney and Margaret Marx, John spent his childhood in that close-knit community. He attended Falls City High School and maintained strong ties with his hometown friends and family, returning for family reunions year after year.
In April 1974, John married the love of his life, Diane Marx. They settled in Downey, California, for several years before discovering their forever home in Seal Beach during a Sunday bike ride. This coastal residence became their sanctuary for the remainder of their lives.
John is survived by his son, Gregory Marx, and his wife, Katie; his daughter, Kelly Timmons, and her husband, Guy; his brother, Jim Marx, and his wife, Connie; and his grandchildren, Anna, Elizabeth, and Carly Marx, Jesse and Christopher Timmons; and his great grandchildren, Emma and Eli Timmons. He also leaves behind nieces Ireland and Maggie Marx, nephew James Marx, and many cousins and extended family members in Falls City.
A dedicated Army veteran, John served as a Paramedic for the Vernon Fire Department and excelled as a top salesman for PWS, Inc. He cherished time spent with family and friends at their vacation home in Lake Havasu, where he shared his passion for boating, teaching his children and their friends how to drive boats and water ski.
John and Diane also enjoyed traveling with their close friends, Jim and Connie Raabe.
He will be dearly missed for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and willingness to help those in need. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all caregivers for their compassionate support.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Sky Rose Chapel, Rose Hills Mortuary, 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, California, with a reception to follow.
