Virgil Feighner, 82, of Falls City, NE, passed away September 27, 2024 at Kansas City, MO. He was born December 3, 1941 at Shubert, NE to Dean and Esther (Schulenberg) Feighner.
He married Marcia Roberts on July 7, 1968 at Falls City
Virgil enlisted in the U. S. Army February 27, 1964 at Omaha, NE. He served in Vietnam and earned a Vietnam Service Medal, Markman (Rifle) Badge and Expert (rifle M-14) Badge, Medical Badge and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on February 21, 1966 at Oakland, CA.
Virgil graduated Reserve High School in 1960 and following graduation he worked at Frontier Homes. When he was stationed a Ft. Riley and had medical training in Ft. Sam, MO and served as a medic for 8 months in Vietnam. While in the military he met Cleo Lott and they went all through service together and remain friends to this day. After he returned home, he went to work for the BNSF Railroad in 1972 and retired in 2003. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the American Legion at Falls City.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Marcia of Falls City, children, Scott and his wife Sarah of Falls City, Becky Debusk and her husband Justin of Falls City, sisters, Rita Adams and her husband Roy of Lincoln, NE, Betty Kuker and her husband Jerry of Barada, NE, Connie Eichelberger of Hiawatha, KS, grandchildren, Melissa, Hannah and Brandon Feighner, step-grandchildren, Trent Debusk, Monica and David McCarney, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tom, Herbert, Robert and Ron Feighner, sisters, Luella Harris and Barbara Stice.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Maple Cemetery at Salem, NE with Pastor Mike Hader officiating. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
