Thomas Joseph Marquis, 76, of Falls City, NE passed away Sep 10, 2024 at Falls City. He was born in Falls City on Oct 16, 1947 to John T. and Emma F. (Rakestraw) Marquis.
Tom attended Falls City public schools and was an accomplished athlete active in football and weightlifting. Tom worked at the trailer factory until he could afford to put himself through Milford Tech to become an architechtural draftsman. He later used those skills to design his home in Omaha, which had the first wood foundation in the city.
When Tom retired he was a senior mechanical designer doing contract work for the Union Pacific Railroad.
He was married to Joan Kempke and later divorced. Tom was an avid sportsman hunting, fishing and was also an accomplished archer. He and his son, Jordan, participated together in the Cornhusker games taking many awards.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Emma Marquis. He is survived by a son, Jordan Marquis and wife, Sarah Whitlatch of Helena, Montana.
He is also survived by a brother Leland Perry Marquis and wife, Ruth Douglas of Shawnee, Kansas and sister, Catherine Weaklend, Falls City and nephew, Todd Weaklend and SO Joella Nelson, LaVista, NE.
A graveside service will be held Oct 16 at 1 :00 at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, NE to celebrate Tom’s life.
