The nominations have rolled in for the 2024 Cobblestone Parade Grand Marshal, and local residents have nominated an outstanding choice: Hank and Marcia Schwartz. This year’s parade theme, “We’ve Got the Spirit,” couldn’t fit these nominees better, particularly considering Hank Schwartz’s over 50 years of unwavering support for local schools and sports programs.
Hank, along with his brother Ron, founded the Tiger Booster Club, a pivotal organization in the area that has raised considerable funds to aid local youth in both athletics and academics. Renowned for his dedication, Hank has spent countless hours attending local sporting events and traveling to away games, fostering community pride and spirit among young athletes. His notable practice of providing snacks and drinks for players on bus rides to games and practices illustrates his commitment to encouraging and supporting the local youth.
“To this day, Hank will still proudly sing the Falls City Tiger Fight song and Hoorah, Falls City, and wear his Tiger Memorabilia,” stated the Grand Marshal nomination letter.
Initially starting his career as a mechanic at Merly’s Tune Up, Hank later became a beloved fixture in the mechanic department at Armbruster Motor Company, where he worked for many years until retirement. Even during this time, he continued to lend his support to the community, serving as an active member of his church alongside Marcia, both of whom dedicated time as Sunday School teachers for many years.
Baseball fans in Falls City love to reminisce about Hank as their coach. For decades, he has inspired young athletes, leaving a lasting impact on the community and sparking fond memories amongst those he coached.
The nominee says Hank’s positive attitude and infectious smile continue to light up the community, embodying the spirit of Falls City. Marcia, his steadfast partner, has also played a key role by attending events alongside Hank and supporting his endeavors with the Tiger Booster Club. Together, they remain ardent supporters of local businesses, further solidifying their place as cherished members of the community.
With such an enthusiastic legacy of service, dedication, and spirit, it’s no surprise that Hank and Marcia Schwartz will lead this year’s Cobblestone Parade.
