Virgil D. Brackhahn

Virgil D. Brackhahn, 92 years of age, of Falls City, NE, formerly of Beatrice, NE, passed away in Falls City Wednesday morning, July 31, 2024. Virgil was born on November 10, 1931 in Falls City to Ralph A. and Rozelle (Prior) Brackhahn. He served his country as a Corpsman in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 (Korean War) serving on our west coast, and then 21 months on the Far East. For ten of those months he was assigned to a mobile surgical team with the U.S. Marines.

Virgil and Betty Louise Hogue were married on June 24, 1956 in Dawson, NE. They had two daughters, Susan Holly Brackhahn and Leslie Louise Brackhahn. After 27 years, he retired as a salesman, designing and selling store fixtures for Store Kraft Mfg. Co. in Beatrice, NE.

For over 50 years Virgil has produced many “Works Of Art” from his experiences in wood carving with many awards and sales attesting to his skills. He had been a member of the Capital City Carvers Club. His family’s genealogies also benefited from his efforts. Virgil was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice.

Survivors include his wife Betty of Falls City; daughter Susan Brackhahn of Lincoln;; niece Kimberly (Lonnie ) Goff of Falls City; nephew Lucas (Linda) Yoder of Kenmore, WA; great nephews Lucas (Megan) Goff, Daniel (Cassondra) Goff, David (DeAnna) Goff, and Matt (Laura) Goff. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Leslie Brackhahn, and sister Delpha (Yoder) Findley

Graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, August 5, 2024 at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. There will be no public viewing or visitation. A memorial has been established to the Richardson County Cancer Fund with the funeral home in charge.
