Doyle Ramer, 97, of Falls City, NE, passed away April 19, 2024 at Falls City. He was born February 28, 1927 northeast of Barada, NE to Leonard Levi and Ona Mae (Mount) Ramer.
He married Orma Marie Sailors on June 29, 1952 at her parent’s home, west of Barada. She passed away September 30, 1999.
Doyle enlisted in the U. S. Army on December 19, 1948 and was honorably discharged in December of 1949 and then recalled back to active duty on October 14, 1950. He served in Korea and earned the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars. He was honorably discharged on November 22, 1951 at Camp Carson, CO.
Doyle was raised northeast of Barada and lived in Falls City all of his life, except for the six months he lived in Salem, OR. He worked for Morehead Auto and frontier Homes before becoming employed by the Richardson County Roads Department, where he worked for 14 years before retiring in 1989 to take of his wife for the next 11 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #1765 in Falls City.
Doyle is survived by his sons, Jeffery of Kearney, NE, Rodney of Bartow, FL, Ron McConnel of Missouri Valley, IA, fiancé, Oneida Chandler of Falls City and her children, Linda and Larry Franzen and family of Falls City and Teresa and Kerry Pfister and family of Falls City, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Penny Sue Nissen, brothers, Wayne and Kenneth, grandchildren, Josh Nissen, Jade Ramer and Gaberial Ramer, a great-granddaughters and a sister, Linda Lee Dicks.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating. Interment will be in Harris Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
Open viewing and visitation will begin Monday afternoon at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
