Charlotte Jo “Josie” Taylor, 72, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on May 10, 1951, in McCook, Nebraska to Joseph Sheets and Evalyn Conboy. Josie’s father passed away in a car accident before she was born. Her mother Evalyn was later married to Cyril Clancy and the couple raised their family while he worked on the railroad. Josie graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Falls City, Nebraska with the class of 1969. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she received her degree in Psychology. On October 29, 1973, Josie was united in marriage to Joe Taylor in Auburn, Nebraska. To this union two children, David and Dawn were born. Josie worked for 35 years at the Beatrice State Development Center in Beatrice, Nebraska where she held various jobs and positions.
Josie passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Pawnee Memorial Hospital in Pawnee City, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-two years, three months, and twenty-two days. She is preceded in death by her fathers: Joseph Sheets and Cyril Clancy, sister Julie Halverson, and grandson Ezekiel Metschke.
Josie is survived by her husband Joe Taylor of Humboldt, NE; son David Taylor and wife Stephanie of Beresford, SD; daughter Dawn Metschke and husband Marty of Johnson, NE; step-son Tim Taylor and wife Shelly of Wymore, NE; grandchildren: Coralee and Ryman Taylor of Beresford, SD; Charlotte and Noah Metschke of Johnson, NE; Hayley, Zackary, and Zayda Taylor of Wymore, NE; three great-grandchildren; mother Evalyn Clancy of Humboldt, NE; brothers: Greg Clancy and wife Pam of Belleville, KS; Steve Clancy and wife Cindy of Dawson, NE; Bob Clancy and wife Kim of Brookville, KS; sisters: Mary Clancy of Dawson, NE; Patricia Eastman of Dawson, NE; Amy Sanford and husband Darrell of Lincoln, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson, Nebraska with Father Kenneth Hoesing officiating. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. prior to mass.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska. Family will greet friends at the mortuary from 6-8 p.m.
Interment will follow services at the Heim Cemetery in Dawson, Nebraska.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice with a later designation.
