Mary Ann Scholl, 93, of Falls City, NE passed away on July 27, 2023, at the Eastern Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Bellevue, NE. She was born March 23, 1930, in Falls City to Benjamin and Ida (Niemoller) Bauman.
Mary Ann attended school in the Arago area, north of Falls City. She was active in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church along with Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society in which she served as co-chair with her aunt, Emma Bauman, on the wedding reception committee during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Mary Ann worked for SENCA Head Start in various positions for over thirty years until her retirement. Following her retirement, she continued to enjoy gardening, attending musical theater shows, and traveling to her grandchildren’s many activities. Mary Ann was an excellent cook and baker and throughout the years, she hosted numerous family dinners.
On July 20, 1957, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Ralph Scholl at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City, NE. They celebrated nearly 64 years of marriage before Ralph’s passing in June 2021. Mary Ann’s long life was an unexpected blessing given the early deaths of her parents and six siblings.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Vincent, Victor, Milton (Donna Lee), Raymond (Neva), Gerald, Jerome, nephew, Joseph Bauman, great nephew, Scott Harris and great niece, Jamie Bauman.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Marjorie (Jim) Determan of North Bend, NE, Janet (Mark) Mumaugh of Rogers, AR, sister-in-law, Alice Cleveland of Indianapolis, IN, grandchildren, Jenny (Tyrel) Wieseler of Lincoln, NE, Michelle (Mike) Ruba of Shawnee, KS, Lindsay Determan of Denver, CO, Michael Mumaugh of Houston, TX, Megan Mumaugh of Fayetteville, AR, three great-grandsons, a great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father James Meysenburg as the presiding priest. A parish rosary will be recited prior to the start of Mass at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Falls City Catholic Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Parish Hall.
