According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, on Tuesday, July 4th, Rick and Susan Nutzman of Falls City were traveling Eastbound on Us 36 at Mo 13 interchange in driving lane. A 2014 Freightliner driven by James Shipman of Lumberton, Nc was travelling Eastbound on the ramp from Mo 13 to Eastbound Us 36. Shipman moved from the driving lane of travel into the passing lane for Mr. Nutzman to merge.
Nutzman cut north across both lanes of the roadway in front of Shipman. Shipman braked in an effort to avoid the Nutzman’s. Shipman struck the Nutzman’s driver’s side. Both vehicles travelled off the North side of the roadway into the Median. Shipman came to rest on its wheels facing Northeast.
The Nutzman vehicle came to rest on its wheels facing North. Mr. Nutzman passed away at Cameron Regional Medical. Mrs. Nutzman died at the scene. Shipman was not injured but his vehicle suffered moderate damage.
