LaMar F. Schacht, 92, of Falls City, passed away April 28, 2020 at Falls City. He was born November 30, 1927 in Cook, NE to Elmer and Viola (Grable) Schacht.
He married Lauretta Fischer on November 4, 1946 in Seneca, KS, they later divorced. He married Orlee J. Prater-Titus on November 6, 1999 in Falls City. She passed away March 5, 2019.
LaMar enlisted in the U. S. Army on October 1, 1946 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He earned a Japan Army of Occupation Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was honorable discharged September 23, 1947 at Ft. Ord, CA.
LaMar was raised in Cook and graduated Tecumseh High School in 1945. After his discharge he worked construction until becoming employed by the railroad. He retired in 1988. He lived most of his life in Falls City and Salem. He enjoyed music and dancing. He was a member of Good News Assembly of God Church, American Legion Post #102, Falls City Elks Lodge and the Eagles Club at Auburn, NE.
LaMar is survived by his son, Garry and his wife Cherry of Troy, KS, daughters, Carol Zimmerman, Charlotte Gentry and Cindy Sailors all of Falls City, sisters, Donna Jean Hindera of St. Mary’s, NE, Ruth Drake of Humboldt, NE, Sandy Stalder and her husband Duaine of Humboldt, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and his wife.
A family only funeral will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Good News Assembly of God Church with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
Friends may attend the funeral but are required to stay in their cars and listen to the service on 90.1 FM. They may follow us to the cemetery but are required to stay in their cars at the cemetery and listen to the committal service on the same radio station.
Viewing will begin Wednesday afternoon at Dorr and Clark funeral Home. Please bring your own pen to sign the registration book for sanitary purposes.
