JASON DAVID CROOK

Jason David Crook, 36, of Auburn, NE, formerly of Humboldt, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at his home in Auburn.
He was born June 26, 1980, in Humboldt, to David G. and Nancy J. (Workman) Crook.  Jason grew up on the family dairy farm south of Humboldt, where he enjoyed watching the daily activities of living on a farm.  As part of the Brown County Special Education Co-op, Jason attended elementary school in Robinson, KS.  He later graduated from Hiawatha High School in Hiawatha, KS, with the class of 2000.  In September of 2002, Jason moved to a SENDS group home in Auburn.
Jason was a life-long member of the Humboldt Christian Church.  He enjoyed being outdoors and listening to music.  Jason was a big Nebraska Huskers fan, especially watching the Lady Husker volleyball matches on television.  He took great delight in spending time with his family, especially his two nieces.  His heart was filled with love and compassion and that was displayed by his infectious smile that deeply touched everyone around him.  If one were to look into Jason’s big, brown eyes, one would surely see the love of God.  He could speak volumes with his eyes, with no words needed.  Jason was truly a child of God, for we know that Jesus was in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glenwin and Geneva Crook and Duane and Mary Ann Workman.
Jason is survived by his loving parents, David and Nancy Crook, of rural Humboldt; siblings, Holly Herr and her husband, Caleb, of rural Table Rock, NE, and Eric Crook of rural Humboldt; an Uncle, Charlie Crook of Humboldt; an Aunt, Joyce Gerdes and her husband, James, of rural Auburn; nieces Ellisyn and Lesley Herr of rural Table Rock; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at The Christian Church in Humboldt, with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.  Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt.  The family greeted friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment was at the Humboldt Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
