Diana Kottich continues to give gift of reading

    For the second year, Steve Kottich, on behalf of the Diana Kottich Memorial Fund, has purchased a book for every kindergarten student at Falls City North School from the Scholastic Spring Book Fair in memory of his late wife.
    Diana, a long-time educator at North School, passed away on Dec. 14, 2014 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. Reading was one of Diana’s passions and she always enjoyed selecting books from the Book Fair, both for her students and her grandchildren.
    Elementary Librarian Gail Froeschl said the purchase of these books has three benefits:
    -Each kindergarten student gets his or her own book to enjoy;
    -The school library raises needed funds for new books from the profit of the sales.
    -The sizeable Kottich purchase made through the Scholastic All for Books Donation Program is matched by Scholastic dollar for dollar in books to be distributed to children through the Kids in Need Foundation.
