JOYCE L. McCARTNEY

Joyce Loraine McCartney, 78, of Falls City, passed away due to sudden illness on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. She was born on March 16, 1937 in Lansing, MI, to Lloyd and Margaret (Barker) VanEno.

Joyce moved to California at the age of eight, where she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Margaret and Bob Guffin. She was united in marriage to Robert Allen McCartney on May 8, 1954 in Los Angeles. Eight children were born to this union. Joyce was a homemaker for most of her life. Before retiring, she worked at the Aztec Factory and the Falls City Community Hospital. Robert was in the military and the family lived in many different cities.

She is survived by her children, Mike (Roberta) McCartney, of Willis, KS, Jim (Susan) McCartney, of Falls City, Cindy Erpelding, of Camden Point, MO, Tammie (Kevin) Vice, of Highlandville, MO, Angie (Henry Jr.) Wendtlandt, of Falls City, NE; 22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren, nieces nephews other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 11, at the Good News Assembly of God Church, 601 Reavis St. Burial will follow at the Steele Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at noon, prior to the funeral at the church.

Friends and family may view and sign the register from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Hall Funeral Home, 2403 Harlan St.

Visitation will be at the Good News Assembly of God Church from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, with family greeting friends from 6-8.
