Ruth E. Cummings, 99, of Falls City, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Falls City. She was born Aug. 22, 1915 northwest of Falls City to the late Claude and Rebecca (Strauss) Hunt.
She married Rollie Cummings on June 20, 1936 at Nebraska City. He passed away on Nov. 27, 1988.
Ruth attended District 47 Maple Grove School and Falls City High School. The couple established their home three miles east of Verdon when married and later moved southeast of Falls City and then, in 1945, to the home north of Falls City, where they farmed for more than 60 years. She later moved to Jonesbrook Estates. Ruth had been a night clerk at the Check Inn Motel in Falls City for seven years and also a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Falls City.
Ruth is survived by a niece, Betty Lee (Gary) Lundvall, of Cody, WY; and special friend, Vera Ploeger, of Falls City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Arlow Hunt; and sister, Mildred Strough.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Dorr & Clark Funeral Home, with Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating; interment in Steele Cemetery. Open visitation and viewing was to begin Saturday afternoon. The family prefers memorials to the First Christian Church.
