Four arrests made in connection with thefts at Golf Club

Four Falls City citizens have been formally charged with felonies in connection with the thefts of batteries at the golf cart sheds at the FC Golf Club.

Joshua Choate, 27, currently faces five felonies related to thefts – both at the FCGC and at a residence at 2302 Schoenheit St. He is expected back in Court March 28 for a preliminary hearing on four counts of Class III Felony Burglary, and theft by receiving stolen property, a Class IV Felony.

Authorities allege Brian McFeeters, 26, Leann Willets, 41, both of FC, and Amber Barr, 31, of Verdon, all assisted Choate in the battery thefts. McFeeters and Willets are each charged with three felony counts of aiding and abetting. McFeeters is expected to be arraigned in District Court today; Willets’ preliminary hearing is set for March 16. Barr has a preliminary hearing on a felony count of theft by receiving stolen property ($500-$1,500) set for March 11.

RC Deputy Sheriff Roland Merwin headed the investigation leading to the arrests.

Six batteries were taken from the shed of Linda Jones, who reported property damage of nearly $1,400. More than $1,000 damage was incurred by Golf Club shed renters Jim Mullins and Chuck Bennett, and Gary Liberty also reported a theft from his shed.
