The Falls City High School Lady Tiger volleyball team celebrates its championship victory over Exeter-Milligan Saturday in Tecumseh at the Johnson County Central Invite. FCHS defeated the hosts (25-19, 25-17), avenged an earlier loss to NC Lourdes (25-23, 25-21) and then upended Exeter-Milligan 25-22, 11-25, 25-21 in the title match. The Lady Tigers, winners of five in a row and six of their last seven matches, improved to 14-5 on the 2014 season. Falls City travels to 4-17 Conestoga tonight and hosts the four-team FCHS Invite Saturday. The team is on the road next week, at St. Joseph (MO) Lafayette Oct. 13 and at Marysville, KS, Oct. 16. “The girls are playing hard and improving everyday,” Coach Julie Frederick said. In the big victory over Exeter, sophomore Alyssa Frederick recorded eight team-high kills and made just two errors attacking. As a team, FC had just seven errors at the net. Senior Maygan Ramsey finished with six kills and junior Libby Bauman recorded five. Senior Jerrica Beckner was the defensive leader with seven blocks, two for aces. Senior Baylee Vrtiska set up the hitters with 17 assists.
