Sacred Heart’s boys track team continued their strong start to the season last Tuesday as they cruised to a 28-point victory over second place Johnson County Central, 126 to 98, at the Thunderbird Invite in Tecumseh.
Just three days removed from a dominant 40-point victory in the ‘B’ division of the MUDECAS Meet, the Irish boys claimed their third invitational crown of the season.
First-place finishers included sophomore Henry Arnold in the 400-meter dash (54.7 seconds), senior Chaz Dunn in the 800 (2:11.9), senior Sean Strasheim in the pole vault (12 feet, 6 inches) and senior Jarod Fiegener in the discus (130 feet, 7 inches).
The Irish 400-meter relay team of Dunn, junior Sawyer Kean, junior Austin Malone and senior Yianni Haralabidis captured gold, as did the 1600-meter team of Haralabidis, Malone, Kean and Arnold.
The Lady Irish finished sixth with 48 points and were led individually by first-place finishers, junior Elizabeth Magdanz in the pole vault (7 feet, 6 inches) and sophomore Maggie Goltz in the triple jump (34 feet).
The Irish track teams were at Lewiston today and host their invite next Tuesday at Syracuse.
