Helen M. Rieger, 93, of Falls City, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at Falls City. She was born Sept. 27, 1920 to the late James and Lillian (Cummings) Hill.
On Oct. 12, 1947 she married Glenn G. Rieger at Falls City.
Helen was raised in the Stella area and graduated from the Dawson High School in 1937.After graduation she worked as a secretary and during WWII worked in a defense plant making bombs, also in a plant grinding crystals for radio sets. The couple established their home in Falls City when married; they also lived in Humboldt, before moving to Hiawatha, KS, where she and her husband owned and operated a moving business known as the Rieger Van Service. They moved to Falls City in 2002. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Hiawatha.
Helen is survived by her husband, Glenn, of Falls City; sister, Margaret (Robert) Zimmerman, of Falls City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Albert, Raymond and Bud Hill; and sisters, Vionetta (Mrs. Hanson) Moodey, Martha (Mrs. Donald) Sherman, Claudia (Mrs. Marlin) Armbruster, and Dorothy (Mrs. Lloyd) Siercks; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Steele Cemetery with Rev. Paul Weinert officiating.
Open visitation and viewing will begin Sunday afternoon at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
