Palmyra rolls, keeps Titans winless

Humboldt-TR-S was defeated 53-6 by Palmyra last Friday night in Humboldt to fall to 0-7 on the season.

HTRS managed only seven first downs and were held scoreless until late in the fourth quarter, as Palmyra’s Alex Thomsen passed for 265 yards and four touchdowns on 16-of-23 passes. Thomsen also ran for two scores, a 28-yard run in the second quarter and then again from 17 yards out in the third quarter.

Ben Railsback accounted for the only Titan touchdown when he scored from 13 yards out with 4:29 left in the game.  Railsback rushed 15 time for 82 yards. Nolan Schafer finished 8-of-16 through the air with 73 yards, as he connected with Schuyler Kuhlmann four times for 48 yards. Kuhlmann also led the HTRS defense, finishing with five solo tackles, 10 total stops and an interception. Tony Knudson also recorded 10 tackles and Patrick Pindea finished with five solo tackles and eight overall.

The Titans have dropped 17 games in a row dating back to a first-round state playoff loss to Elmwood-Murdock in 2011.

HTRS wraps up their 2013 regular season Thursday at 7 p.m. at Elmwood-Murdock (4-3).
