Tedd Gilkerson likely to be appointed to fill Kathy Bartek’s term

The District 56 School Board will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, in the Central Office at FC Middle School.

Prior to the meeting, at 6:30 p.m. a meet and greet with new employees will be held in the Commons Area at the school.

The Board Monday will appoint a new member to fill the vacancy created by the death of longtime member Kathy Bartek. Four – June Bowers, Tedd Gilkerson, Kevin Scheitel and Mrs. Bartek’s daughter, Amanda Young – applied for the position, though it appears a consensus has been reached to appoint Gilkerson, who has twice run for a seat on the FCPS Board. The appointee will serve until the 2014 general election and then would have to be elected to serve the final two years of the term.

Also Monday, the BOE will take action on policy revision recommendations and teacher contracts, set hearings for the 2013-14 budget of disbursements, receipts, and transfers and the 2013-14 property tax request.
