Freeman tied for 14th at National Tournament

Calvin Freeman, a Humboldt-TR-S alum and currently a golfer for Southeast Community College in Beatrice, is tied for 14th place after two rounds of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, Alabama.

Freeman shot a 1-over-par 73 in his second round and sits at 1-under-par and seven strokes off the leader after two days. Freeman was tied for fifth after his opening round 70.

The SCC team is in seventh place with a team score of 12-over-par 588 (294-294).

South Mountain (AZ) CC holds a comfortable lead with their two-day total of 284-281—565 (-11). In second place is Walters (TN) State CC with a score of 577 (+1) and in third is Owens (OH) CC with a total of 298-281—579 (+3).

David Keenan (66-70—136, -8) of Parkland (IL) College holds a three-stroke lead over Brandon Hoelzer (70-69—139, -5) of Owens CC. Two players are tied at 4-under, while four more are five shots off the leader.

Earlier this spring, Freeman signed with the University of Nebraska and beginning this fall he will continue his collegiate golfing career with the Huskers.

The NJCAA Division II National Tournament is scheduled to last through Friday.
