Virgie Vogele, 96, of Falls City, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in Falls City. She was born July 29, 1916, near Rulo to the late William M. and Leora A. (Bryan) Craig.
She married Jay C. Vogele on June 3, 1933 at Hiawatha, KS; he passed away on Dec. 14, 1994.
Virgie was raised near Rulo and when married the couple established their home near Rulo and moved into Falls City in 1957. She has lived here since. She was employed at the Falls City Creamery Co. from 1951-1957 and at the Falls City Meat Company from 1957 until retiring in 1962. Virgie also baked and decorated cakes in her home for 12 years.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church at Rulo, where she had taught Sunday School and was a leader of the Methodist Youth Fellowship; the Humboldt Chapter OES #234; VFW Auxiliary #1765 of Falls City; and a Charter member of the Falls City Senior Citizens, Inc.
Virgie is survived by a daughter, Linda Sue Henry, of Falls City; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Robert Vogele, two granddaughters, Cathi Ann Vogele and Shelly Henry, twin brother, Virgil Craig, six half-brothers and five half-sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Dorr & Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Lyle K. Schoen officiating. Interment in Steele Cemetery.
Open viewing and visitation will begin Thursday afternoon at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.The family requests no food donations be given.
