Frederick Dean Stevicks

A memorial service for Fredrick Dean Stevicks and family greeting friends will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, at the Community Building at the Parkview Apartments in Humboldt, with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating. Inurnment will be at the Mound (Prospect) Cemetery, east of Humboldt, at a later date.

Fred, also known as “Hondo” or “O’Filler,” died Monday, April 29, 2013, at the age of 75.

He was born on July 15, 1937, in Dawson, the son of Edd Ray and Mary Emily (Ingram) Stevicks. He had lived in Richardson County his entire life.  He attended country schools until 1950, when he entered Humboldt Public Schools. In 1952, Fred transferred to Bern High School in Bern, KS, in order to participate in athletics, because Bern had practices during the school day.  He later graduated from Bern High School with the class of 1955.

On July 20, 1958, Fred was united in marriage to Lillian Janet Hill in Humboldt. The couple lived and raised their family in Humboldt.  Fred worked as a mechanic, deliveryman, truck dispatcher, auto detailer and road grader operator for Richardson County.

Fred is survived by his wife, Lillian Stevicks, Humboldt, daughters, Joni (Wayne) Bates, Lincoln, and Patti (Tom) Buechel, Lincoln, a son, Tom (Sarah) Stevicks, Lincoln, six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a brother, Billy (Ann) Stevicks, Dawson, sisters, Noreen McMurray, Osceola, IA, and Darlene Stockard, Roswell, NM, sisters-in-law, Shirley Stevicks, Humboldt, Nedra Stevicks, Falls City, and Lyla (Gary) Rohlmeier, Piedmont, OK, brothers-in-law, Myron (Carol) Bright and Lyle (Debra) Hill, Yukon, OK, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorthy Bright, brothers, Ray and Charles Stevicks, sisters-in-law, Carolyn Kistler, Marta Belisle and Roxanne Hill, and brothers-in-law, David Kistler and Dean McMurray.
