Three Falls City Tigers punched their tickets to next weekend’s State Track and Field Championships at the Class B District 2 Meet held Thursday in Auburn.
Senior Cord Huettner was the district champion in the shot put with his heave of 48 feet, 6 inches. Huettner also qualified in the shot put in 2012.
Zach Jordening will also return to Omaha after his best performance to date in the high jump. The sophomore cleared 6-2, four inches better than his previous high, and finished in third place.
The third Tiger qualifier, junior Mitchell Harling, qualified in the both the long and triple jump events. Harling went a personal-best 20 feet, 1 inch and finished second in the long jump. He was third in the triple jump with a jump of 41-00.5 feet.
Crete won the district championship on the boys’ side, followed by Syracuse (87) and Beatrice (75). Falls City was eight with 36 points.
On the girls’ side, Auburn and Syracuse tied with 114.33 points each for a split of the district championship. Crete was third with 99 points.
Falls City did not score a point.
