Strong season for FCMS wrestlers

Three FC Middle School eighth grade wrestlers earned second-place finishes in the season’s final tournament at Gretna. Deven Nycum and Brett Black, who both wrestle at 125 pounds, went 2-1 in Gretna and 179-pound Carter Hunzeker won one and lost one. The loss in Gretna was Black’s first of the season and he finished 5-1.

Nycum finished 5-5 in 2013 and Hunzeker was 12-4. Eighth graders Jake Kiser and Dalton Kennel finished third and fourth, respectively. Kiser went 3-1 in Gretna and finished 10-3 on the season. Kennel was the Tiger middle schoolers best wrestler in 2013 though. He was undefeated until the Gretna Invite where he went 2-2 for fourth place and finished an impressive 17-2 on the season.

Final season records of the rest of the Tiger middle school wrestlers: Colton Hayworth (132, 8th), 8-8; Matthew Rathje (137, 8th), 5-7; Nathan Richey (90, 7th), 2-19; Joel Gifford (102, 7th), 3-14; Emmet Kirkendall (117, 7th), 7-9; Brandt Chapple (128, 7th) 4-0; Ransom Campbell (152, 152), 9-9; Brandon Banks (180, 7th), 5-8.
