Dan Weddle, 79, of Pawnee, Nebraska, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 7, 1947, in Falls City, Nebraska, Dan was the son of Ralph and Bettie (Daniels) Weddle.

Dan met the love of his life, Neala Halterman, while attending high school in Nebraska City. The couple was united in marriage on December 22, 1967, beginning a partnership that would span nearly 59 years.

Answering the call to serve his country, Dan left college to honorably serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot. Following his tour overseas, he and Neala moved to Ft. Rucker, Alabama, where Dan served as an instructor pilot. During that time, they welcomed their son, Daniel “DJ.”

The family later returned home to Nebraska, settling in southeast Nebraska, where Dan began his career as a probation officer in Pawnee City. There they welcomed their daughter, Marnie. Dan continued his military service for the next 35 years with the Nebraska National Guard, serving both as an instructor pilot and in the JAG office. Professionally, he advanced to become Chief Probation Officer, overseeing a 13-county area in southeast Nebraska.

Dan dedicated countless hours to creating the family’s permanent home in Pawnee, helping remodel and build the house and lovingly constructing numerous flower beds for Neala. He had a lifelong passion for hunting quail, pheasant, and deer, as well as a deep appreciation for firearms from an early age. In retirement, he opened “The Lower Forty” gun store in Falls City, which was more a joyful hobby than a business.

Of all the roles Dan held in life, none brought him greater happiness than being “Grandpa” or “PaPa.” He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren — from family vacations and teaching them to shoot, to nightly phone calls to check in, be silly, or to just hear about their day.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Bettie Weddle of Nebraska City, and sister-in-law Donna Hamling.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Neala Weddle; son, DJ Weddle and wife Melissa of West Point, Nebraska, and their children Taylor, Makenna, Brooklyn, and Treven; daughter, Marnie Brezack and husband David of Omaha, Nebraska, and their daughter Ellie; brother, Tom Weddle and wife Ruth of Nebraska City; brother-in-law Rick Halterman and wife Mickey; sister-in-law Sandy Cummings and husband Pat; brother-in-law Leroy Hamling; along with many cherished nephews, nieces, extended family members, and friends.

Dan will be greatly missed, but remembered for his patriotic service and love of his country, dedication to his community, and the unwavering love for his family.

Dan wishes was to be cremated. Celebration of Life at a later date.

Memorials to the Pawnee County Memorial Foundation towards the Ambulance service.

Services pending with Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska

Gary Adaire Ogle, 81, of Dawson, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born on February 11, 1945, in Falls City, Nebraska to Martha Jane Harlan and Forrest John Ogle. Gary attended school at Salem High School until the school closed in 1962, then transferred to Falls City High School, where he graduated in 1963. Following high school, Gary joined the Navy and was part of the Fourth Division Fire Control aboard the USS Leahy during its first Mediterranean cruise in 1964. After being discharged from the Navy, he managed a motorcycle shop in Charleston, SC. Soon afterward, Gary returned home and married Sharon Elaine Tiehen on December 18, 1967, and they later moved south to Augusta, Georgia, where Sharon was stationed at Fort Gordon. During their stay in Augusta, Gary worked as an NCR technician and industrial electrician. They welcomed their son, Terry, in 1970.

In 1977, Gary and Sharon moved to Atlanta to attend Georgia Tech. They lived in married student housing while completing their degrees in Electrical Engineering. After graduating, they both accepted positions with the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga, Tennessee. At TVA, Gary worked in substation design, energy conservation and monitoring. Later in his career, he became the manager of substation supervisory control and powerline carrier. He retired from TVA in 1999 after 20 years of service.

Gary was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a kind individual who was liked by all. He spent countless hours helping family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers build houses, decks, barns, and garages. He wired houses, fixed cars and tractors, and solved his neighbors’ drainage problems. He even assisted neighborhood kids with their science fair projects. Gary was a multitalented individual – he could do pretty much whatever he set his mind to. After retiring, Gary returned to the farm and worked on renovating the Ogle Family farmhouse in Dawson, NE. After starting renovations, he decided to move the house to the top of the hill so he could enjoy a better view — one he shared with Sharon every evening.

Edgar Allen Bredemeier, known affectionately to many as Ed, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Born on January 23, 1936, in DuBois, Nebraska, Ed was deeply rooted in the rural life that shaped his character and contributions.

Ed was one of four children born to Fred and Myrtle (Siske) Bredemeier. His early education encompassed rural school through the sixth grade, followed by a few months in the DuBois School District, culminating in his graduation from Pawnee City High School in 1954. From a young age, Ed’s life was marked by the values of his community and faith, having been baptized and confirmed at Friedens Church, situated south of DuBois.

His commitment to both country and community was exemplified in his service with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. Upon returning from service, Ed dedicated himself to farming, specializing primarily in cattle and grain operations, with a period devoted to raising hogs and undertaking custom work. Beyond the farm, Ed was an active participant in agricultural circles, notably winning the Nebraska state corn picking contests in both 1965 and 1966, achievements that led him to compete at the national level.

Ed’s involvement extended into numerous local boards, where he worked tirelessly to support and advance his community. He was also a distinguished member of the Masonic Blue Lodge in Pawnee City, achieving the rank of Master Mason. He was a member of all three bodies of the York Rite, and notably served as Grand Commander of Nebraska in 1982-83.

On June 14, 1959, Ed married Carolyn Edwards in a ceremony at the Stella Community Church, where she was an active member. Their marriage was a partnership founded on shared values and love, and together they built a family that brought Ed immense joy. He especially cherished attending the activities of his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured by all.

Edgar is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; his children and their spouses: Karen Brown of Parkville, Missouri; Sharon and David Meacham of Parkville, Missouri; Mike and Chris Bredemeier of Stella; and Linda and Tim Shanks of Syracuse. He took great pride in his grandchildren: Rachel Greathouse (Stephen), Elizabeth Dillman (Joseph), Logan and Conner Bredemeier, Jordan (fiancé Andrew Smith), Suzanna, Robert, and Liam Shanks, and granddaughter Emerald Dillman. Additionally, Ed’s family circle included his sisters-in-law Jan Bredemeier of DuBois, Nebraska, and Merrie Edwards of Lincoln, along with numerous nieces and nephews who held him in high regard.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law Jim Brown, his brother Arden, his sisters Alene (Paul) Davis and Elane (Don) Burkhalter, as well as his brother-in-law Joe (Paula) Edwards, sisters-in-law Margaret (Peter) Arcus and Julie (Jeff) Munford, and Merrie’s significant other John Miller.

Ed Bredemeier’s life was one marked by dedication—to his family, his faith, his country, and the land he lovingly tended. His legacy endures in the hearts of those who knew him and in the community he served. He will be remembered with profound respect and affection.

The funeral service was on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Stella Community Church with co-officiants Pastors Michael Davis and John States. Casket bearers were Logan Bredemeier, Conner Bredemeier, Robert Shanks, Liam Shanks, Stephen Greathouse, and Joseph Dillman. Rachel Greathouse, Elizabeth Dillman, Jordan Shanks, Suzanna Shanks, and Emerald Dillman were honorary bearers. Burial followed in Prairie Union Cemetery near Shubert. Graveside military honors were provided by American Legion Post #168 of Pawnee City and Nebraska National Guard Honors Detail.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
