Harry Owen Hamilton, 89, of Rulo, Nebraska, was born on October 25, 1931, in Maryville, Missouri, to James Elmer and Ethel Louise (Barrett) Hamilton. He attended school through the eleventh grade in Missouri but transferred his senior year to Blanchard High School in Blanchard, Iowa, where he graduated with the class of 1949. On February 1, 1951, Harry entered into active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country for three years until being honorably discharged in February of 1954.
On December 5, 1975, Harry was united in marriage to Marlene McKim at the First Brethren Church in Falls City, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Falls City before moving near Mound City, Missouri, where they owned and operated Tri-State Seed and Implement. The couple would later divorce and Harry moved to Rulo, Nebraska, where he has resided. Harry passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at the Community Medical Center in Falls City, Nebraska, having reached the earthly age of eighty-nine years and six days. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kurt Hamilton, daughter Marilyn Hamilton, a brother Arthur Hamilton and son-in-law John O’Grady.
Harry is survived by his daughters: Nancy Johnson and husband Kenneth of Claremont, MO; Carolyn Hansen of Maryville, MO; a brother Joseph Hamilton and wife Ivy of Kansas City, MO; step-children: Linda Frost and husband Neil of rural Rulo, NE; Cathy O’Grady of Falls City, NE; Jerry McKim and wife Nancy of rural Falls City, NE; Nancy Fischer and husband John of Topeka, KS; Karey Jo Weaver of Falls City, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
A Graveside Memorial Service is open to the public and will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the High Prairie Cemetery in Elmo, Missouri, with Father David Oldham officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Funeral Honor Guard.
