Falls City Sacred Heart Catholic School recently announced that Jenny Dunn has been hired as Principal beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.
Fr. Lee Jirovsky has been assigned by Archbishop Lucas Administrator of the Diocese of Lincoln to Chief Administrative Officer at Bishop Neumann in Wahoo.
It was also announced that Doug Goltz, a 34-year veteran educator and Sacred Heart Principal for the last 17 years, will take on the CAO responsibilities and keep his Athletic Director and Coaching positions. Fr. Stoley will remain as pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish and assist Goltz as a local superintendent to Sacred Heart School.
“I have loved every minute of my time here at Sacred Heart,” Father Jirovsky said, “and I really thought that I would be staying for a long time.”
Fr. Jirovsky transitioned to Falls City last March as Interim CAO, and then was appointed by Bishop Conley to assume the duties last June.
“Following in the footsteps of Msgr. Roh was an amazing privilege, and I learned so much from Mr. Goltz and Fr. Stoley in the short time we’ve had together. But I know that in God’s plan, this has prepared me for the next step. With Mrs. Dunn on the team, I’m confident in the leadership of Sacred Heart moving forward,” said Fr. Jirovsky.
Dunn said, “I never thought that something like this would be possible, and it will be super hard to leave the wonderful team of people that have been a part of my life at Hiawatha. But I know this is what God is calling me to right now, and I am looking to bring all of my experiences to the Sacred Heart Family.”
Dunn is a 1993 graduate of Sacred Heart and returned to teach English and coach volleyball from 2000-2004. Fr. Stoley was principal then, and recalls, “Watching Jenny leave at the time, was one of the more difficult losses for me. She was an amazing teacher. But having her come back in this role, is super exciting; she really is amazing.”
During her time in Hiawatha High School, Dunn taught English and Journalism.
Dunn graduated from Sacred Heart in 1993; graduated from Peru State College in 1997, Bachelor of Arts in Education from Peru State with a Secondary Language Arts and English; in 2006 with a Master of Science in Education from Peru State: Curriculum and Instruction and Instructional Technology, a Master of Science in School Counseling and in August 2020 – PK-12 Provisional Principal Endorsement.
Doug Goltz, when asked about the transition, said, “This is great for Sacred Heart. Jenny already knows so much about our school and she will be very dedicated. This will be a smooth transition. Her previous experience will be a big plus.”
Mrs. Dunn will assume the duties of Principal effective this month.
