Harry E. Foote, USN Ret., 78, of Falls City, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Falls City. He was born March 31, 1937 at Rulo, the son of the late Harry R. and Nellie (Miller) Foote.
Harry lived various places as a child and graduated from Seaman High School in 1955 at Topeka, KS. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 19, 1956 and served on various ships, earning a Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and Meritorious Unit Commendation. He retired and was honorably discharged on April 16, 1976.
Following his military retirement, he drove a truck for Florida Steel and then moved to Forrest City, MO. before coming to Falls City in 1987. He was employed at Gary’s Derby gas station for several years.
Harry married Sandy Zella and they were later divorced; on July 15, 1988 he married Karen Rhodd at Hiawatha, KS.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Rulo.
Harry is survived by his wife, Karen, of Falls City; daughters, Kim Bailey, of Charlotte, NC, and Kris Keller, Kelley Barker and Sherie Elms, all of Falls City; sons, David Foote, of Jackson, FL, Marty (Erynne) Elms, of Bern, KS, and John (Nancy) Elms, of Falls City; brothers, Donald, of Conway, AR, Francis, of Tucson, AZ, and Charles (Judith), of Little Rock, AR; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie; sister, Charlene Moody; and a granddaughter, Andrea Elms.
Mr. Foote has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
