Falls City High School is currently celebrating Homecoming Week 2013, which culminates with the crowning of the king and queen Friday at halftime of the Tigers’ 7 p.m. football game against rival Auburn at Jug Brown Stadium.
Queen candidates are: Kirstyn Buchholz, daughter of Kent and Julie Buchholz; Karle Embretson, daughter of Kyle and Angie Embretson; and Allyson Scholl, daughter of Steve and Brenda Scholl.
King candidates are: Justin Doerr, son of Doc and Tracy Doerr; Reese Hogue, son of Don and Terri Hogue; and Levi Hitchcock, son of Stormy Hitchcock and Phil Hitchcock.
Traditionally, the previous’ year’s Homecoming Royalty crowns the king and queen. The 2012 FCHS Homecoming King and Queen were David von Behren and Jennifer Wendtlandt.
A Homecoming Pep Rally, open to the public, will precede the game at 4 p.m. in the stadium. The king and queen candidates will be presented and each of the classes will perform skits, as will the senior parents. The Tiger cheerleaders will perform a routine and head football coach Darin Fritz will speak, as will coaches Cody Hawley (cross country), Jason Bredemeier (softball) and Julie Frederick (volleyball).
Also during the pep rally, a yet-to-be-named faculty member will be the recipient of an entire pie, courtesy of SENCA. Students who collect the most money for SENCA’s Financial SMART literacy class decide on the “lucky” pie beneficiary. Eating utensils will neither be provided nor utilized.
Following the football game, the Tiger Booster Club is sponsoring the Homecoming Dance, to be held at FCHS.
