Louis Fritz

Louis Fritz, 83, of Verdon, NE, passed away March 14, 2026 in Falls City, NE. He was born on February 21, 1943 at Verdon to Edward and Esther (Biermann) Fritz.

He married Judy Lanning on March 1, 1964 at Seneca, KS.

Loui was raised at Verdon and graduated Dawson-Verdon High School in 1961. He earned a degree in education at Peru State Teachers College where he excelled at cross country and track as a distance runner. Following his graduation, he taught physical education and health at Dawson-Verdon High School for three years before teaching at Falls City High School. He taught for twenty-nine years at Falls City, retiring in 1998. He spent his retirement raising various livestock and continued running, he ran 72 marathons over his lifetime and was a three-time participant in the Bike Ride Across Nebraska. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 6 miles north of Falls City and the Peru State College Hall of Fame.

Loui is survived by his wife, Judy of Verdon, children, Darin and his wife Kerry and Jason and his special friend Stephanie Portman both of Verdon, Mara Dungan and her husband Craig of Falls City, brother, Phil and his wife Cindy of Verdon, sisters, Martha Owens of Elwood, NE, and Pamela Fritz of Sterlington, LA, nine grandchildren, Levi and Emily Campbell, Abby Fritz, Cody Bahr, Jordan Schwarzer, Brittany Graves, Cedree, Eddie and Gretchen Fritz and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Edward, daughter, Melissa Stevenson, brothers, Eugene and Lyle, sisters, Elaine Browne and Marie Parsons.

His funeral will be held Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 6 miles north of Falls City with Reverend Ken Humphrey officiating. Interment will be St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.

Viewing will begin on Tuesday afternoon.
