Charles Robert “Chuck” Hall

Charles Robert “Chuck” Hall, 93, of Sandston, VA and formerly of Coburn, PA passed peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025 at his residence. Born June 18, 1932 in Falls City, NE, he was a son of the late Jess Marion and Anna Mary (Haunhs) Hall.

He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Falls City, NE in 1950. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served in the Korean War earning the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.

After being honorably discharged from the Service, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in Chicago, IL, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Chicago.

On January 26, 1966, in Chicago, IL, he married Lou Ann Epstein who survives him.

They have three children: William Hall (Julia), Hinde Haa (Chris), and Sarah Fewtrell

(Warren).

Charles spent his life creating art in a variety of mediums. After moving to Coburn, PA in 1968, he established Chuck Hall Art Studio where aspiring artists of all ages from all over the world came to learn art from him in his private studio in Coburn. Charles also taught art at Penn State University, Bucknell University, Rockview State Penitentiary, Art Alliance of State College, and Pike Art Workshop.

Charles was a founding member of the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church of Penns Valley in Spring Mills, PA. The Stations of the Cross and the main Crucifix, which are still in place today, were painted by Charles and donated to the Church.

In addition to his wife and children, Charles is survived by his grandchildren: Ada Hall and Roman Hall (William and Kim Hoyt), Celine Hall and Benjamin Hall (William and Julia), and Adam Reed and Seth Reed (Hinde and Aaron Reed). He is also survived by his great grandson, Tyrson Reed (Adam).

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings: Mary Frances “Mef” Mullane, Richard Marion Hall, Madeline Helen Wranosky, Eugene Joseph Hall, Jess Philip “Junior” Hall, Anna Margaret “NiNi” Frederick, Elaine Marie “Totty” Kreiger, and John William “Billy” Hall.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 6-8PM, with a rosary service beginning at 5:30PM with Father Joshi officiating, at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church, 3503 Penns Valley Rd, Spring Mills, PA 16875. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 10:00am at the church with Father Brian Saylor officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Bellefonte.
