Robert Thomas “Tom” Wentz, 72, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2027 at Freeman west Hospital in Joplin, Missouri following a brave battle with lung cancer.
Tom was born on May 27, 1953 in Sabetha, Kansas, the son of Robert E. Wentz and Doris Diane (Strahm) Wentz. Tom attended Falls City High School where he participated in football, wrestling and choir, following his graduation in 1971 he attended a Topeka Trade School completing a course in automotive, graduating in 1973, then he attended Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska in Building construction graduating in 1975. He married Judy Stanford in 1976, they had a son, Eric Robert Wentz, they later divorced. Tom married Cindy Hawkins in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1997. He got two bonus kids, Amee Walters and Jimmy Walters, two bonus grandkids, martin and Natalee Munoz.
Tom was a skilled carpenter and worked in that trade for many years, but was a farmer at heart and enjoyed raising cattle and a few chickens with Cindy on their family farm in Goodman, Missouri. He could sit for hours and watch his cows. He loved his trips to Colorado, he also loved Eureka Springs, Arkansas and Branson, Missouri. Last year he took Martin and Natalee on a trip to Colorado and it was beautiful.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cindy of the home, his son, Eric Wentz (Shauna), his bonus daughter, Amie Walters and grandkids he loved dearly, Odyssey Mae Wentz, bonus grandkids, Martin Munoz, Natalee Munoz and Jazzy Walters; two sisters, Sara Wentz (Aileen Ball) and Susan Wentz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and bonus son, Jimmy Joe Walters.
He has been taken for cremation, entrusted to the Ozark funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri and a graveside service will be held at a later date in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri.
