Eleanor (Ele) Pearl Richardson Last

Eleanor (Ele) Pearl Richardson Last was born on August 25, 1940, at the family house in Verdon, NE. She was a wonderful giving person, who had time to help anyone. She will be missed for her ability to make friends wherever she goes, there were no strangers to her. She would give anyone the shirt off her back. She sang many beautiful songs for friends and family at their funerals. 

She attended the Verdon Schools graduating in 1958. She was active in many school activities; choir was one of them. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Eleanor was active in the Verdon High School Reunion committee for many years. 

Eleanor was confirmed at the Verdon Christian Church at an early age. She attended church at Papillion, NE and later was a member of the Barada United Methodist Church. After moving to town she attended both the Methodist and North Ridge churches in Falls City, NE. 

She married Paul Leon Last of Shubert, NE at the Verdon Christian Church on March 1, 1959. They were together for 4 7 years until his passing in 2005. They began their married life in the Verdon area. They then moved to Rural Papillion; NE. Ele was a home maker and Paul built houses as a carpenter. They returned to the Verdon area a few years later. They moved to a home Paul moved and remodeled in 1980 in the Barada area. She moved off the farm to Falls City in 2012. 

Ele was a long-time employee of the Indian Cave State Park. She was a children’s librarian at the Falls City Public Library. She was a member of the Barada ladies club and Barada Bells. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge in Verdon. A member of the Shubert Legion Auxiliary. She was on the Falls City Tree Board and was awarded the Falls City Good Neighbor award in 2017. She was active at the Richardson County Fair flower show. Exhibiting and winning many awards. Ele was always highly active in her community, with so many other clubs and activities, too many to mention. We thank her for her service in the community. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Leon Last. Her parents, Jess, and Florence (Hall) Richardson. Her brother, Bill Richardson, and brother-in-law Robert Liberty. Her son-in-law Tom Bangert and great grandchildren, Lincoln Daniel Bangert and Georgia Lynn Gaylor. 

Eleanor is survived by her children Lori (Byron) Whitney of Sioux Falls, SD. David (Claudia) Last of Mascoutah, IL. Lana Bangert of Falls City, NE. She was called Grammy by her eleven grandchildren: Crystal, Julie, Megan, Jessica, Adam, Maggie, Eli Ann, Ryan, Ali, Josh, and Danny. She has eight great grandchildren: Justice, Walker, Elijah, Russell, Lucas, Rinnick, Alice, and Louisa. Others surviving include her sister Ann Liberty of Verdon, NE, and sister-in-law Glenda Richardson of Minnesota. Also, many other beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the Barada Methodist Church in Rural Barada on Saturday June 28, 2025. Lunch and visitation will be at 12:30PM, with the service following at 2:00 PM. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be given to the families with recipients to be named later.
