Dr. James “Jim” Dale Slominski, DDS, passed away February 12, 2025, in Falls City Nebraska. He was born on April 12, 1939, in Loup City, Nebraska. He attended elementary and high school in Loup City, graduating in 1957. After high school, Jim attended Hastings College and later graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in 1963. He served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1965 to start his dental career. On August 18, 1964, he married Judith Marie Beaty at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska. Jim and Judy moved to Falls City in 1965 where Jim “hung a shingle” and opened his dental practice above the bank at 17th and Stone Street. In 1973, Jim built his own building for his practice at 1901 Chase Street. He went on to practice dentistry in Falls City and Humbolt for a total of 52 years.
Jim and Judy were blessed with seven children born between 1965 and 1982: Amy, Rochelle, Gregory, Deirdre, Joshua, Zachary and Timothy.
Jim was a life-long learner and became a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1985. He went on to earn a Masters Degree from the Academy in 2012 after completing 1100 hours of disciplined, comprehensive dental study. Jim and Judy were lifelong supporters of Catholic education, supporting St. Peter and Paul, Sacred Heart High School, and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Kansas, to name a few. In his later years, Jim dedicated his talent and time on multiple medical missionary trips to Central American countries.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Salvester and Ruth Slominski and by his wife Judy.
Jim is survived by his children Amy Yager, Rochelle Mullen, Greg Slominski (Rebecca Dawn), Deirdre Slominski, Josh Slominski (Jill) , Zac Slominski and Tim Slominski (Heather), and his siblings RuthAnn Tesdall (Greg), Jac Slominski (Judy), Elaine Carpenter (Frisso) Jerry Slominski (Janet), and Mary McCoy (Gary).
Jim and Judy have 18 grandchildren: Lauren Magill, Jacob Yager, Kyel Yager, Claire Yager, Nicholas Mullen, Sarah Mullen, Maggie Mullen, Emma Stueve, Matthew Slominski, Elizabeth Slominski, Addy Cress, Tyson Cress, Leighton Cress, Ryland Cress, Cooper Slominski, Isabella Slominski, Carter Slominski and Madeline Slominski. Jim and Judy also have 6 great-grandchildren: Joline Magill, Mack Magill, Luke Magill, Peter Stueve, Henry Stueve and Tate Slominski.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Falls City Sacred Heart Foundation, 1820 Fulton Street, Falls City, Ne 68355.
The family will receive visitors at St. Peter and Paul at 4:30 on Friday, February 21, 2025. A Parish Rosary be recited at 6:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Father Jim Meysenburg as the presiding priest.
Private Family Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
