Kathern Jean (Fritz) Faller
October 5, 1936- November 18, 2024
Kathern Jean (Fritz) Faller, 88, of Omaha, NE passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, with Vernal, husband of 67 years, and family members by her side. Kathy was born October 5, 1936, in Falls City, NE, the eldest of four children to Carl and Verna (Fiedler) Fritz.
Kathy grew up on the Verdon family farm, helping with chores and caring for her siblings. Kathy attended Verdon High School where she played volleyball. It was during one of her games that she met her future husband Vernal. They were married June 2, 1957, and eventually settled in Omaha.
Kathy loved gardening, canning, and freezing fresh fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed baking and was famous for her fresh fruit pies with delectable crust, which she shared generously with neighbors, family, and friends. Kathy’s faith was central to how she lived her life. She was very active in church as she and Vern were members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church for over 60 years. Kathy was also a long-time member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She provided to and received support from her sisters in faith throughout her life.
Kathy worked for many years at Midwest Survey. She made many friends while there and enjoyed walking the neighborhoods of Omaha where she and coworkers would canvas housewife responses to new product trials. Many of those products are on our retail shelves today.
Kathy’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband Vernal, son Kevin (Deb) Faller of St. Simons Island, Georgia, daughter Karen (Doug) Tesarek of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, grandchildren Emily (Neiko) Jennings, Josh Faller, Andrea (Frank) Manning, Hunter Tesarek as well as her siblings Carol Debell, Darlene Merz, Douglas Fritz and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 24 at Heafy, Hoffman, Dworak & Cutler, 7805 W. Center Rd. in Omaha. Fellowship immediately following. Graveside service will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 65103 712 Rd. Falls City, NE, 12:00 PM on Monday, November 25 with light lunch immediately following.
