Charles Radatz, 81, of Falls City, NE, passed away June 11, 2024 at Omaha, NE. He was born January 12, 1943 at Garnavillo, IA to Arthur and Irene (Engler) Radatz.
He married Karen Ott on May 25, 1968 at Manitowoc, WI. She passed away April 10, 2019.
Charlie was raised in Garnavillo and graduated the University of Iowa with a degree in broadcasting. He then worked for a local radio station until moving to Sheboygan, WI where he worked for WKTS Radio in sales, eventually becoming the general manager. In 1981 the couple moved to Falls City and purchased KTNC Radio Station. He sold the station in 2007 and retired. Charlie stayed busy volunteering for many organizations in Falls City and helping on many community projects. Most notably was his hard work in securing funding for the Rulo Bridge. He was a member and board member of EDGE, Jaycees, Lions Club, Elks, CRA and many others. He was also a census taker in 2020 and had been a substitute teacher. He was one of Falls City biggest cheerleaders and worked tirelessly to improve the town. He was also an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 20th and Towle St.
Charlie is survived by his children, Jenny Liu and her husband Joseph of Overland Park, KS, Jeff and his wife Bonnie of Seward, NE, sister, Shirley Wagner of Farmersburg, IA and grandchildren, Sophia and Sean Liu.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister, Yvonne Willman.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10:30 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (20th & Towle St.) with Pastors Joanna Kathol and Miles Ruch officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
