Mary Ann Rieschick, 79, of rural Falls City passed away with family and Minister at her side on Tuesday April 30, 2024. Daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Mack) Bierman she was born October 26, 1944, where she was raised on the farm. She attended District 25 Vaughn country school for grades 1st thru 8th grade. Then attended Falls City High School where she graduated in 1962. She was an active 4-H member in her youth exhibiting foods, sewing and modeling her constructed garments at the Richardson County Fair.
On April 11, 1964, she married Leonard Rieschick at St Paul’s Lutheran Church 20th and Towle. The couple established their first home north of Falls City in Leonard’s Grandpa’s home, John Rieschick. The following year they moved to their current residence north of Falls City.
Mary Ann was employed at Tober’s clothing store in Falls City until she gave birth to the couple’s first child Vicky. Their second child Tony would come a few years later. She was an equal partner with Leonard in the farm and Holstein dairy cattle herd operation tending to the younger livestock along with field work for planting in the spring and a full-time homemaker.
Mary Ann was an active member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, she served on church council and the Women of the ELCA, where she held many officer positions. She showed her creativity by constructing church banners for each season in the church year and was also an active member with various activities from church choir, Sunday school teacher and even helping make soup for the annual soup supper.
Mary Ann’s leadership was also on display as 4-H leader of the Purple Ribbon 4-H club for over 25 years. She helped with many contests during the year and the annual Jr Fair in Humboldt as well as foods project leader. A longtime member of the New Timers Extension Club, she sang in the Joy Belles, a local women’s choir, and served on the Richardson County Election Board for numerous years, she even found time to be an Artex Paint dealer and enjoyed many hobbies such as cooking painting, sewing and house plants.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband Leonard of 60 years. A daughter Vicky, Mrs Steven Yoesel, son Tony all of Falls City, grandson Chris Yoesel of Lincoln brother Gary Bierman and his wife Carol Falls City, and the family dog Blacky.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson in infancy John Yoesel.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th & Towle St.) with Pastor Joanna Kathol officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin Thursday afternoon until 7:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
