Constance “Connie” Shafer, 89, of Auburn, NE (formerly of Shubert, NE), passed away December 9, 2023 at Auburn. She was born August 7, 1934 at Shubert, NE to Thomas and Grace (Albright) Hillyard.
She married Delman Shafer on October 10, 1953 at Shubert. He passed away June 28, 2006.
Connie was raised in Shubert and graduated Shubert High School in 1952. She worked in Falls City at Aztek and at Richardson County Court House. She was mainly a homemaker and lived most of her life in Shubert until moving to Auburn in 2009. She was a member of Shubert Christian Church, CWS of her church, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Shubert and on the Election Board.
Connie is survived by her sons, Garland and his wife Darlene of Auburn, NE, Garth and his wife Carla of Horton, KS, Gerry and his wife Tena of Springfield, OH, seven grandchildren, Zebulon, Kenan, Joshua, Jared and Jacob Shafer, Allison James and AmberLee Bowser and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Auna Kristine in infancy, a sister, Colleen Davis and brothers, James and Richard Hillyard.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday December 13, 2023 at Shubert Christian Church with Pastor Dennis Fulbright officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
