Harold Keith Auxier, 90, of Falls City, NE, passed away peacefully July 25, 2021 at Falls City. He was born April 16, 1931 at Salem, NE to Walter and Elizabeth (Zurbrick) Auxier.
On August 10,1954 Harold married Jo Ann Corn at Humboldt. Jo Ann passed away on June 14, 2018.
Harold enlisted in the US Marine Corp February 21,1952 at Omaha, NE and was honorably discharged February 20, 1955 at Santa Ana, CA. Harold did Aircraft Mechanic training in Memphis TN and Jacksonville FL with station assignments at Miami, FL, Santa Ana, CA, and Japan. Military honors include Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
Harold was raised on the farm near Salem and Graduated Salem High School in1949. He farmed with his father until he enlisted in the US Marine Corp in 1952. When Harold returned from military service, he followed the family tradition and farmed many acres around Salem and Verdon until his retirement in the 1990’s. Harold was a member of the First Christian Church of Falls City and a dedicated supporter of the Richardson County Historical Society. He and Jo Ann logged many hours of volunteer work at RCHS and they were integral parts in its success and growth.
Harold will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit, his unique sense of humor, his generosity, and his kind and pleasant nature. A skilled woodworker, Harold always came up with a clever woodworking craft for each family member to complete at our family reunions. Harold’s quiet presence and helpful ways endeared him to those lucky enough to have known him.
Harold is survived by seven nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ralph Auxier and Howard Auxier, wife Jo Ann, and two nieces.
