Word has been received of the passing of Claron Ray Burns, 80, hometown Salem, Nebraska. Ray died on March 12, 2018 while residing in Pinnacle, North Carolina. He was born in Richardson County, Nebraska, on August 12, 1937. Ray was previously married to Marilyn L. Power of Humboldt, Nebraska. They have three daughters and one son.
After over 20 years of service, Ray retired from the U.S. Navy. He then spent many years traveling the open road as a long-distance transporter.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Burns; three daughters, Brenda Lee Tippy and husband, Marc; Peggy Leann Abutin and husband, Marcelino; Raye Lynnette Renna and husband, Walter; one son, William Lance “Bill” Burns; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Costa, Frances Burns and Carol Clark; four brothers, Roland Burns and wife, Wilma; Ralph Burns; Roy Burns; and Thomas Burns and wife, Anna; many nieces and nephews and two step-children.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Clyde and Vivian Arnold Burns; brothers, James Burns and Russell Burns; and sister, Joan Weber.
A naval vessel will carry Ray’s cremated remains to Johnson Atoll in the Pacific Ocean where he will be buried at sea with full military honors. We love you, Dad, may you rest in peace.
