Last Saturday, November 4, volunteers with the Falls City Jingle Bell Ride wound through town on horseback or hayrack and collected toys for needy children. According to coordinator Sherry Huddleston, there were nearly 60 volunteers this year, who rode in five separate groups to gather new toys.

Altogether, the groups stopped at 103 pre-registered homes. In addition, Santa was available for Christmas gift suggestions, and two volunteers offered face-painting. They were Jennifer Young, and Cassandra Lendermon. “We are so grateful to the volunteers for giving their afternoons, and to the families who donated toys,” Sherry said. “They truly displayed the spirit of Christmas.” Children whose families are in SENCA-sponsored programs or who qualify for SENCA’s programs are eligible to receive one toy each.

Enrollment forms are available at Sixpence downtown, or by contacting Tiffin Bauman at (402) 883-0218 , or Sherry Huddleston at (402) 801-1811. The toys will be distributed in Humboldt at the Christian Church on December 14th from 10 a.m. to noon. Falls City’s toys will be distributed at Northridge Church at 1820 Morton Street on the 15th from nine a.m. to noon, and one p.m. to three p.m. If you would like to donate a new toy, or need more information, please contact Sherry Huddleston at (402) 801-1811.
