Final round voting has started for the Lil Miss and Mr. Cobblestone contest sponsored by Partners In Education.
The contestants for this year’s contest are: Jordan Lunsford Jr., son of Jordan and Sarah Lunsford; Eli Sayer, son of Luke and Rachel Sayer; Garrett Gresham, son of Holly Helmick and Brad Gresham; Maeleigh Pagnano, daughter of Brittany Phroper and Maverick Pagnano; Tenley Babb, daughter of Sheena Heineman and Jake Babb; Olivia Neville, daughter of John and Andrea Neville.
Final round voting started Monday, Aug. 8. and will continue to Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m. Wolfe’s Printing. PIE would like to thank everyone for the great support.
Little Miss and Mr. Cobblestone will be crowned at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, August 22 on F&M Bank Stage. The 2015 Falls City Cobblestone Festival is just around the corner, and it’s never too early to begin preparing for the fun-filled activities. Festival fun will begin with Thursday night’s Firemen’s Fishing Contest at Stanton’s Lake at 5:00 p.m. At 7:45 p.m. The Ambulance Squad will hold a Mock Extrication.
Friday night the drawing will be held for the large screen TV, basket of gift certificates, and free VIP wristbands. Visit your local Falls City Chamber members to learn how to enter! An outdoor film will be how at dusk on the F&M Bank Stage on the courthouse lawn.
Saturday’s schedule will include the 7:00 a.m. Fun Run followed by the beginning of the Frog Jumping contest and Car show. Little Mr. and Mrs. Cobblestone will be announced at 9:45 a.m. on the F&M Bank stage. The Buchanan Highlanders from St. Joseph will hold a Bagpipe concert at the First Presbyterian Church on 20th and Harlan at 10:15 a.m. prior to the parade which is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. down Harlan St. No need to pre-register, but pre-registering does help in organization. Kids on bikes, dirt bikes, four wheelers are all welcome! For more information contact Lori Gottula at firstname.lastname@example.org. After the parade you’re invited to First Christian Church for their Annual Cobblestone Festival Food Stand! The menu includes beef burgers, hot dogs, chips, blooming onions, homemade ice cream, pop & water. The stand will open up just before the parade and conclude when sold out.
First United Methodist Church will also have a dinner following the parade until 1:00 p.m. The menu will include beef burgers, hot dogs, ham salad sandwiches, desserts, salads and cool drinks.
The Sabetha Drill team will perform at 12:45 p.m. followed by the McCoy Dancers at 1:00 p.m. then a
visit by the Mercy One helicopter. And the popular “Frozen T-Shirt Contest,” sure to cool off anyone, as well as “The Price is Right in Falls City” a mini version of the television classic showcasing Falls City’s merchants.
Prizes will be awarded and will vary from contest to contest. Of course, all of the classic Cobblestone events such as the Firemen’s fishing contest, 5K, frog jumping, little tuggers, classic cars, parade, Little Mr. and Miss Cobblestone, craft show/vendors, Dodge Ball Tournament, carnival rides, and Vespers service (as well as many more) will be going on Aug. 20-23.
